Belles of St. Mary's

The Belles of St. Mary's began in January 2009 with the enthusiastic efforts of St. Mary's University student, Francesca Garcia, accompanied by the guidance of University Chaplain, Fr. Charles "Kip" Stander. With beaming smiles and kind mannerisms the duo soon created one of the most influential and spiritually involved organizations on campus.

Only after one year of initiation, the Belles of St. Mary's attended the first annual CDA Campus Court Retreat. It was discovered that the Belles held the highest number of active members, standing at around 50 young women of the St. Mary's campus.

In the spring of 2011, the Belles of St. Mary's received recognition in the category of Membership and Leadership at the 2011 Texas CDA State Convention.

Beginnings

At our bi-weekly meetings, you won't find the typical people OR information being passed from member to member. At Belles meetings we spend the first thirty minutes discussing where to join our efforts on campus, or in the San Antonio community, by doing service and doing our best to spread the Word of God. The 'business' portion of meetings are run by lax parliamentary procedure. Each meeting calls for the consistent participation of our members and for each semester to bring new initiatives and opportunities!

The last thirty minutes is what all of our Belles stay for! Every meeting we bring a new Spiritual experience to all of our members! Our Belles have participated in different small groups, meditations, and musical prayer which gives them a focus toward God in the midst of college chaos.
